Curlin Commons

Mooresville, NC

Curlin Commons is a forty unit affordable housing development for seniors. The 51,600 square foot, two story complex includes twenty eight one bedroom units and twelve two bedroom units. The design included a U-shaped plan that minimizes the building footprint and creates a shared landscape courtyard. Off-set corridors create shorter halls and allow for sitting areas with views to the exterior. Community spaces surround the main entrance and include an on-site chapel for use by the residents. The project was developed by the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte Housing Corporation and The Affordable Housing Group. The project received EnergyStar and EarthCraft certifications and was partially financed with NCHFA low income housing tax credits.
