Wilrik Hotel Apartments

Sanford, NC

The Wilrik Hotel was constructed in 1925 and served as an important travel stop on the route to destinations in the South.  After many years of limited use, this elegant seven story structure was renovated and now houses  forty-one apartment units, a business center, multi-use spaces and a large Civic Hall.

The restoration required that all existing plumbing, mechanical and electrical equipment be abandoned, then reinstalled with code compliant systems.

The architect worked closely with the North Carolina Division of Archives and History to maintain the original architectural character and period detailing.  Tax Credit financing was provided through the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency.
