Eagle Market Place

Eagle Market Place is a sixty two unit apartment project located in Downtown Asheville. The 89,000 s.f. facility was designed to provide workforce housing for local working professionals. Situated on a site that was the hub of the African American community in the 1940’s, the project includes the renovation of three historically significant structures and the construction of a seven story addition. Shared community and gallery spaces front the street and display important artifacts from the neighborhood’s illustrious past. The new construction components provide a clean, modern backdrop to the historic facades of Eagle and South Market Streets and reinforce the goal of remembering the past while planning for the future. The project was funded through a combination of NCHFA LIHTC financing and local government participation.
